[...] With Suzumiya Haruhi’s crazy antics now into 4 episodes, everyone’s been talking about how much Haruhi is quite possibly one of the biggest anime since (insert classic popular title here). But as the series progresses the message is clear: the impact it has on the anime community will be marked as significant event. Maybe once Haruhi is over, its hype will die out quickly and people will forget it faster than a Mai-Otome. Taking a que from bluemist, who has scourge the intarweb for anything haruhi-related.. I can’t help, but see a sudden string of haruhi-related websites popping up like a contagious disease. First quick response to the craze was the english SOS-Dan website., technically could be claimed the first English fan site for the series. There’s even a dedicated Haruhi IRC channel which I usually frequent. Then with the strings of oh so many YouTube vidoes and pardories of the ending.(*cough* Even my local school anime club and I will be performing this, eventually *cough*). Heck, even Haruhiism.com is under works right now. [...]

[...] I laughed pretty hard several times during this episode, my favorite moment being the baseball club’s third base slide right in front of Asahina. That baseball glove isn’t going to protect you for long, Asahina-san! Absolute genius. The deadpan narration continues to make this show and it’s even laugh-out-loud funny from time to time. This is definitely one bandwagon worth riding this season. [...]

For the record, there has been at least one anime-centric (i.e.: not a well known pop star slumming for anime ^_^) single to top the Oricon charts. Not only did it top the chart, but was the year end top seller, and, I believe, the only anime million seller to date. The song was named 'Odoru Ponpokurin', and it was the opening theme for 'Chibi Maruko-chan'. Better yet, the song was done by a little known ska band called the 'B.B. Queens' - a complete dark horse. That was in 1990. By comparison, the Negi singles averaged sales of around 50,000 units when they debuted in the top 10 last year...

That having been said, I think the Haruhi theme is leagues better than any of the Negi music, and it would be sorta nice to see it top the chart for a week. I just hope their record company chose it's release week likely. On a couple of occasions, Negi's music could have topped the chart ... if they hadn't gone up agains B'z or Orange Range.
