You may not have noticed but Japanese anime have MANY gay characters. They are usually minor characters but there are many. Its common there. Some the "pretty boys" in anime are that way to show hints that he is gay. On the top of my head i can remember one pretty boy that was CLEARLY gay in the Inuyasha anime. Some guy that had a sword that could fold up or something. He always acted, differently, towards Inuyasha. And that was a kids show.
